Dr. Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, the former Secretary to the Kano State Government, has launched a blistering critique of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration, alleging that it has engaged in corruption and mismanagement on a scale far exceeding that of its predecessor.
In a widely circulated video, Bichi claimed the current administration had committed significantly more infractions than the previous government under Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who faced multiple accusations of corruption during his eight-year tenure.
“All the things we accused Ganduje of doing wrong in eight years, this government has done ten times more in less than two,” Bichi said. “With Ganduje, we only had suspicions, but now, we have evidence. The corruption here is tenfold.”
Bichi also suggested that public dissatisfaction with the government is growing rapidly and could lead to its premature collapse before the 2027 elections. He pledged to publicly expose the alleged misconduct.
“Let’s thank God, their days are numbered. We will chase them out; they might not even reach 2027. When we begin to speak, they will flee. Especially when I start presenting evidence on the radio, they won’t be able to stand it,” he warned.
The former SSG recently defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) along with 14 others, receiving a warm welcome from party leaders at both the state and national levels.
Bichi’s dismissal by the current administration was officially attributed to health concerns, a reason many viewed with scepticism. Observers believe he played a key role in a political rift between Governor Yusuf and his mentor, former Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
His former party, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), suspended him and a commissioner over allegations of disloyalty and abuse of office.
In response to the accusations, the Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, dismissed them outright, challenging Bichi to provide concrete evidence.
“Let him prove it if it’s true,” Waiya stated.
