Leadership is about service to the people. A leader’s primary purpose in government is for the common good of the greatest number of his people. The Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District of Ogun state who also serves as Chairman Senate Committee on Navy and Vice Chairman National Identity Management and Population of the 10th Senate of the federal Republic of Nigeria, is a servant leader and an epitome of humility. He has proved himself an altruistic,patriotic, and focused leader. His commitment to his legislative duties on behalf of his constituents, his state, and the country is unparalleled and noteworthy. With the popular mandate of his senatorial zone in the red chamber, he has demonstrated his unwavering resolve to commit his time and resources for the betterment of the people of Ogun East senatorial zone. He’s always in tune with their interests, yearnings, and aspirations. His legislative activism and interventions have manifested in his achievements within a short period of time in the upper chamber of the national assembly. The distinguished Senator has attracted projects and other empowerment schemes to his constituency.
Otunba Gbenga Daniel has exhibited character, competence,capacity, and capability in public service. Immediately, the 10th Senate was inaugurated,he hit the ground running in order to offer effective representation for the progress and prosperity of his constituents and to the nation.
The Senator created various schemes and empowerment programs for the welfare and well-being of his constituents. These include, the interest free micro credit revolving loan empowerment scheme for petty traders in his senatorial zone, Rice value chain training programme for rice farmers in Remo and the seemless and transparent distribution of fertilizers to farmers in the senatorial district.
His legislative interventions in the senate have facilitated several bills with national and sub national appeals at various stages. They comprise the South West development commission bill which is on its way to second reading, Federal College of Aviation Technology Technology, Ilaro,Remo Bill that has passed second reading, National Economic coordinating and intelligence committee bill submitted for first reading, Bill on Hospices establishment at first reading stage, Terminal illness Trust fund bill(SB223) that has passed first reading, Draft bill on Federal University of Industrial and Petro-Gas ,Oni Ogun waterside,Draft National Academy of Science bill,Draft bill on Medical Physics Regulatory Council of Nigeria and Media Practitioners Registration Council of Nigeria Draft Bill.
Additionally, he has moved motions of urgent national importance on flooding in Sagamu,Ijebu area of Ogun East senatorial zone and Pategi areas of Kwara North senatorial district, and other parts of the country.
Presently, the distinguished Senator is on a thank you visit to his senatorial zone. In the course of the tour,he presented palliatives to thousands of constituents to cushion the hardships and biting effects of the economic downturn in the country. Hence, he presented over 12 thousand bags of rice,beans,garri,semovita,farm implements, and cash gifts. His pragmatism, empathy, and people centric political engagements are unsurpassed.
