The bill to enable the establishment of the South West Development Commission passed the second reading on Wednesday, 21st February, 2024.
Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel, representing Ogun East Senatorial District in line with his progressive politics and dispositions, was at the avant-garde of the debate. The bill,an act to establish the South West Development Commission 2023, (SB.68) was earlier presented on the 1st of August last year. Co- sponsored by all the South West Senators led by Senate leader Opeyemi Bamidele, the bill is expected to usher in Socio-Economic development and tackle anticipated infrastructural challenges engendered by population growth,pressures and migration to the south West from other regions of the country.
A fellow of the Nigeria Society of Engineers(FNSE) and Academy of Engineers(FAEng),the Senator brought to bear his professional expertise and experience in leading the charge in the debate that led to the successful passage of the bill.
There are great expectations that the eventual establishment of this commission will catalyse socio-economic advancement and progress in the South West region.
Distinguished Senator Gbenga Daniel has once more shown his uncommon commitment and dedication to the upliftment of his constituents and the people of the South West region.
