The Chairman of Ojokoro Local Council Development Area, Hammed Idowu Tijani (H.I.D) has advised children and youths in the LCDA to abstain from social vices which may ruin their life and career prospects.
The Chairman gave this advice during this year’s International Children’s Day celebration at the Council’s secretariat complex, Ijaiye-Ojokoro, where he was represented by the council’s Chief of Staff, Hon. Jamiu Odebiyi.
Tijani urged the children not to engage themselves in thuggery, cultism, drug abuse, examination malpractices and all other norms which may have negative effects on their future.
”On our own part as government, our administration has done so much for the educational development of our children and youths, and we will still continue to embark on projects and programmes that will enhance better future for them” said the Chairman.
He further implored them to be good ambassadors of this great country and always project the good image of Ojokoro LCDA wherever they find themselves.
Members of National Youth Council Ojokoro LCDA, youths, students and pupils from various public and private primary and secondary schools in the LCDA were present at the occasion, where they were treated to various entertaining activities such as career talk, cultural dances, and choreography, dancing competition, bouncing castle, Micky mouse and many more.
The President of National Youth Council, Ojokoro LCDA Chapter, Comr.Ilori Olaniyi in his message appreciated the council boss for the grand style celebration and further urged youths, students and pupils to be wary of peer group influence.
He also urge parents present to always keep an eye on their wards for behavioral changes while imploring organizers to extend special invitation to parents/ guardian in her subsequent programmes as their role in child upbringing cannot be played off.
The wife of the Council Chairman, Deaconess Motunrayo Tijani, who also graced the occasion prayed for the children and youths, cuts the event’s cake with the students and also presented them with various gift items.
